Is Hiding Your Wedding Band Necessary for a Job Interview?

I was extremely surprised by this article. It is horrible to think that someone would feel that it would be an advantage to be single when getting a job. Personal information does not show how well someone can perform. It just shows how our society is so judgmental and materialistic. If someone has a large diamond ring that does not mean they were able to afford it by themselves. It could be a family stone that was passed down through generations. It does not show that the person would expect more money than someone else. I had never thought that having a wedding ring on or not could be detrimental in your interview process. I can understand the need to be conservative and dress appropriately. It is important to be professional but wearing your wedding ring does not conflict with that interest.

My Life in Ten Years

It is sometimes hectic for me to think what I am going to be doing tomorrow or even next week. So when I was given this writing assignment of what I am going to be doing with myself in ten years it was kind of overwhelming. Ten years sounds like a long time but in reality, from experience, I know that it is not. Since I was little I knew I wanted to go to college so ten years ago I think it was easier to say what I wanted to do. Just like most girls I wanted to either become a professional basketball player or a veterinarian. I look back and laugh because my life has changed so much since then. Reality sets in, I know now that I care too much about animals and know that I couldn't put them to sleep or give them shots. It would just break my heart. I also know now that there are a lot of girls that are six foot and even taller that are much better than me at basketball. I believe as we grow older our needs and wants change. We realize what is important and what is not so important. I know that its not necessarily how much money I can make with my job but what makes me happy.
Therefore, in ten years I see myself happily married with kids. I want to be a Real Estate agent so I can work out of my home. I want to be there for my kids like my mom was there for my brother and myself. We have such a good relationship with her and my father. I can only pray that my kids feel the same about me. I like working with people and I think it would be a lot of fun making someone happy by selling them the house of their dreams. I think it would be a very gratifying job. I would like to live somewhere in SC. I would like to be close to my family because I know I could always go to them if I ever needed anything, but I would love to travel a lot. I recently went on a cruise to the grand caymans and Mexico. I absolutely loved it! I will always remember it. This may be silly but I also want to have a great dane and a chihuahua, the best of both worlds. The great dane's name will be peanut and chihuahua bear. Overall, I want to be happy! I want to be able to sit with my family and the dogs on our couch in my old clemson t-shirt and smile because of how content I will be with my life. :)

Web 2.0: Bringing the World Closer one link at a Time

I feel that the title Web 2.o is almost trying to explain to the world that the web is upgrading. I think everyone knows what it is like when they have updates on their computer such as A.I.M (instant messenger) 6.0, and then a month later another update pops up saying download A.I.M 7.0. The title is trying to emphasis the mass improvements that the web has made over the years. These improvements could not have been done by the computer itself. These improvements have been made by individuals like you and me. Today individuals like ourselves are expected to know a lot about technology because technology is what runs our world today. I mean try to imagine a day without our cell phones or email! We would not know what to do. How would we contact people? In the work force it is a must to be technologically advanced. When a manager wants to call his employees for a meeting he sends an email. If the manager wants his staff to research a project design they could look up a information and research online. The more one knows about technology, especially the computer, the better ones position in a company could be. Web 2.0 helps bring the world closer one link at a time. So therefore, if there are individuals who are currently in the workforce that do not understand the internet or computers in general they are at a disadvantage to those who can work well with computers. I believe when web 2.o is telling us that we need to rethink everything it is just trying to emphasize the importance that web 2.o can have throughout the world. We will not be a split world. We will be linked together through the web.
